Western Shelter Teams Up with Community Supported Shelters to Improve Conestoga Hut Design
Western Shelter Systems (Western) is teaming up with local non-profit shelter provider, Community Supported Shelters (CSS), to improve the design of the homegrown Conestoga Hut. The Conestoga Hut Micro-Shelter is a quick shelter option for individuals and couples who are experiencing homelessness. The Hut is designed as a hard-shelled, insulated tent structure that can be built with a group of a few volunteers with a wide range of construction experience.
Western Shelter Isolation Systems’ Built For America’s Largest COVID-19 Hospital
Last spring, as the rise of COVID-19 continued to create a shortage of traditional hospital beds throughout the city of Chicago, Western Shelter was contacted by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to provide a reliable solution. Within days, our highly motivated team developed an isolation system that was designed to care for patients, and safely protect medical staff.

In April of 2015 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring 22,000 more. The earthquake's impact was compounded by Nepal's mountainous and rural nature, making aid delivery extremely difficult. Western Shelter is always up for a challenge, so when the US Department of Justice called us to assist the Nepalese Police we were ready to jump into action.
