While frequent testing of every individual is not practical at this time, there are a number of strategies that can be used to detect the presences of COVID-19 in a general population.

While our containers have been used in the past for gyms, laundry facilities, maintenance, and other various uses, these same containers are now a popular choice for those who are preparing their community or organization for future COVID-19 outbreaks.  These mobile facilities can be utilized to create surge capacity for existing hospitals or alternate care sites. Common field hospital configurations are for 100 to 250 occupancy.

Our container system is customizable to handle COVID-19 overflow and emergencies. A 20 foot unit (with a divider) can easily meet the isolation requirements for 2 patients.   This configuration could be utilized for a pre-operation, post-operation, or ICU application. Depending on the desired occupancy, we can scale the number of units to match.

Our container shelters also provide stability with the option to be fastened (welded or bolted) both to each other, as well as being anchored into a foundation. Depending on the size your facility requires, these containers can also be stacked. We’re very familiar with creating these containers to accommodate not only medical facilities, but also space for container field hospitals, kitchen units, bathrooms and showers, and mobile housing. These additional structures are all essential, especially during a COVID-19 outbreak.

Above Average Hurricane Season During COVID-19

In May, NOAA predicted a 60% chance of an above-normal hurricane season. With the arrival of Tropical Storm Fay, the National Hurricane Center has already named 6 storms - the earliest in a season that six have been named dating back to the 1800s. 

NOAA’s forecast calls for up to 19 storms, which includes up to six major hurricanes. Responding to these hurricanes will put added pressure on departments and municipalities already stressed by COVID-19, making for an unprecedented situation.

Western Shelter has established a 24-hour hotline for customers with questions regarding their shelter systems and isolation units in response to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Recognizing the need for immediate assistance in this time of crisis, this hotline further enhances Western Shelter’s already industry-leading customer service, which includes a strategically distributed sales team with easy access to major population centers around the globe.
