role II field hospital

A Role II Field Hospital provides more advanced medical support in the field. This includes intensive care, larger wards, and advanced life support. Role II hospitals are supported by basic dental facilities, as well as radiology facilities and laboratory units.

Staffing

  • 5-6 doctors, including surgeons, internist, anesthetist

  • 1 dentist, 1 hygiene specialist

  • 12-16 nurses/paramedics

  • 4-6 paramedical staff

  • 6-10 support personnel (including ambulance drivers)

Infrastructure

  • Tents, containers, or typically both

  • Outpatient clinic

  • Triage

  • Several wards including isolation and ICU units

  • Operating room including pre-op and post-op areas

  • Dental clinic

  • Laboratory and radiology units

  • Hospital support and administration

Capabilities

  • Treatment of medical conditions and infectious disease

  • Life saving surgery performed under general anesthesia

  • ICU capability (limited)

  • Basic dental services

  • Field laboratory and radiology services

  • Pharmacy

  • Hygiene control and preventative medicine
